My name is Alyssa Gossen, business owner of Alyssa’s Accent Painting.

I grew up in Williams Lake, BC Canada, with a family that owns a custom home-building company called GL Construction. From a young age, the trades world of hard work was instilled in me. Though growing up I didn’t always love it I now fully appreciate it as I have started my own trade business.

When Covid hit, I was unsure of what that would mean for me, a thought I’m sure crossed everyone’s minds. It felt like a blessing in disguise when the GL Construction painter decided to move away, and I felt a desire to step up into that role. I spent the next few months learning everything I could about professional painting from a retiring painter. I not only discovered that I had a keen eye and a great hand at this new skill but also that I loved it.

There started a new joy in learning, and succeeding in this trade. Now going on four years I can confidently say this is something I have desired to do for a long time. There’s nothing like seeing a client’s glee at a newly painted project.
